1. Holiday Subsidy
Besides the basic monthly salary, the University releases the Holiday Subsidy and the Christmas Subsidy each equivalent to one month’s salary.

The holiday subsidy is payable in June every year for the entitled annual leaves of that calendar year, together with the remuneration due in the month. The amount will be calculated based on the monthly remuneration as of 1 June multiplied by the number of days of annual leave the staff member is entitled to in that calendar year and divided by 22. For new staff members, the amount of holiday subsidy shall be proportional to the number of months of service completed till 31 December of the commencement year divided by 12, and which shall be payable in June of the second calendar year.

Example:

Staff member A joined the University on 16 August 2024, and his monthly salary is MOP30,000.00. He will have completed the first year of his service on 15 August 2025. According to the above-mentioned condition, he will be paid the first holiday subsidy in June 2025, the amount of which will be:

MOP30,000.00 x 5 months (total months from his commencement of appointment to 31 December 2023) / 12 months = MOP 12,500.00

Remarks: The period of service exceeding 15 days shall be considered a complete month according to relevant article. Therefore the service period in August shall be counted for a complete month for the purpose of release of the Holiday Subsidy.

In June 2026, as he will have provided full year of service in 2025, he shall be entitled to 22 days of annual leave in 2026 and the holiday subsidy amount will be:

MOP 30,000.00 x 22 days (annual leave entitled in 2026) / 22 days = MOP 30,000.00

2. Christmas Subsidy
The Christmas subsidy is payable in November every year, together with the salary of the month. The amount is equal to the basic monthly remuneration of November of the year. In the first year of the appointment, the amount of Christmas subsidy shall be proportional to the time of service provided from the commencement of appointment to 31 December of the year, the proportional rate being the number of months of service completed till 31 December of the year divided by 12.

Example:

Staff member B joined the University on 16 August 2024, and his monthly salary is MOP30,000.00. In November 2024, his Christmas subsidy will be:

MOP30,000.00 x 5 months (total months from his commencement of appointment to 31 December 2024) / 12 months = MOP 12,500.00

Remarks: The period of service exceeding 15 days shall be considered a complete month according to relevant article. Therefore the service period in August shall be counted for a complete month for the purpose of release of the Christmas Subsidy.

In November 2025, his Christmas subsidy will be paid in full amount (i.e. MOP 30,000) as he will have provided service for the whole year.

.3. Accommodation / Housing Subsidy

The staff member can apply for a subsidy ranging from MOP3,640.00 to MOP5,600.00 per month corresponding to the staff member’s salary index group if the staff member is not provided with accommodation by the UM or any public entities. 4. Furniture Subsidy

The staff member who is recruited outside Macao with a contract duration not less than one and a half years and not provided with accommodation by the University is eligible to apply for the one-time furniture subsidy in the amount of MOP10,000.00.

If either the staff member or the University terminates the contract with justified reason and the service period is less than one and a half years or staff housing is provided within one and a half years after the furniture subsidy is granted, the staff member needs to pay back the amount of the said subsidy in full to the University.

In addition, the passage subsidy is extendable to the spouse and children below the age of 18 of the eligible staff member if his/her contract period is more than one and a half years, with a maximum of four persons of the passage expense incurred, including the staff himself/herself.

The amount of passage subsidy and baggage subsidy is determined according to the different zones from where the staff member is recruited.

Staff member who fails to complete the first contract shall not be eligible to the passage and baggage subsidies for the return trip (Except those who do not have the right of abode in Macao SAR).
