The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) of the Faculty of Science and Technology invites applications for the position of Full/Associate/Assistant Professor in the discipline of Environmental Engineering and Sciences.

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The emphasis of our programmes is directed to the areas of Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Management, Environmental Engineering and Water Resources. The objective of our undergraduate programme is to educate and train the students to be civil engineers with formation of good scientific knowledge, sound engineering practice and leadership skills; and to prepare them for their advanced education at international standard. Currently, it has 18 full-time academic staff, around 200 undergraduates and 190 graduate students. UM is among the top 1% in ESI (Essential Sciences Indicators) rankings in Engineering. The Engineering and Technology programme of UM is ranked in the 126–150 bracket in the THE World University Rankings.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences or related areas. Preference will be given to candidates with research and teaching experience at the tertiary education level. To accord the future development, candidates with specialization in Climate Risk and Carbon Neutrality, Climate Variability and Ecosystem Response, Regional Climate Change Modelling, Earth System Sciences are preferred.

The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in August 2024.

Remuneration

A taxable annual remuneration starting from MOP1,250,200 (approx. USD154,350) for the position of Full Professor, MOP1,052,800 (approx. USD129,980) for the position of Associate Professor and MOP855,400 (approximately USD105,600) for the position of Assistant Professor will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% – 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
