The Department of Portuguese (DPT) of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities invites applications for a one-year contract (with a possibility of renewal upon mutual agreement) in the position of Visiting Instructor of Portuguese Language. The purpose is to provide Master’s degree graduates in Portuguese language related areas (or closely related field) with: a) teaching experience; b) the opportunity to work with faculty and the Department of Portuguese on special projects in an area of professional interest or expertise engagement in language and cultural exchange.
Qualifications
Applicants should have a recent Master’s degree in a related field (e.g. Translation Studies, Literary Studies, Second Language Acquisition, or Applied Linguistics in Portuguese) from an accredited program. Applicants with experience in teaching Portuguese will have an advantage.
The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in mid-August 2024.
Remuneration
A taxable annual remuneration starting from MOP25,000 (USD1 approx. =MOP8) will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% – 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
