The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) of the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) invites applications for the position of Associate/Assistant Professor in Internet of Things with specialty in the areas of Networking and Metaverse. This position is intended to complement and strengthen existing departmental staff expertise. We are seeking candidate with a proven track record in scientific research, an innovative research vision, and a commitment to education.
FST is the oldest and one of the most vibrant faculties at UM, dedicated to student-centric education and cutting-edge research in engineering and science. All of its bachelor’s degree programmes in engineering and computer science are accredited by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) and recognized worldwide. UM is among the top 1% in Essential Sciences Indicators (ESI) rankings in both Engineering and Computer Science. In the THE World University Ranks, the Engineering and Technology programme is ranked among the 101st – 125th arising from its status of a local community college in less than 10 years.
ECE was founded in 1989 and currently has 38 academic staff. The Department offers Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD degree programmes, the curriculum emphasizes on the areas of Microelectronics Circuit, Internet of Things Engineering and Intelligent Control, Energy Internet, Renewable Energy and Telecommunication Infrastructure. ECE has equipped two State Key Laboratories and fifteen departmental laboratories with advanced facilities, and rich hardware and software tools for its students and academic staff to develop their course projects, final year projects and R&D projects. The programmes have extensive collaboration with other institutes around the world.
• PhD degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering or related areas.
• Preference will be given to candidates with specialization in Internet of Things especially in the areas of Networking and Metaverse.
• Strong background in Electrical and Computer Engineering or related disciplines, and extensive research and teaching experience at the tertiary education level.
• Good team player for participating in various aspects of the activities of the department, faculty, and university and serving the profession.
The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in 2023.
A taxable annual remuneration starting from MOP828,100 (approximately USD102,230) will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% – 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
