Teaching Fellows of Portuguese Language
The Department of Portuguese (DPT) of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities is seeking up to three qualified individuals for the positions as “Teaching Fellow”. The purpose of the teaching fellow program is to provide Master’s degree graduates in Translation Studies, Second Language Acquisition in Portuguese or Applied Linguistics in Portuguese (or closely related field) with: a) teaching experience; b) the opportunity to work with faculty and the Department of Portuguese on special projects in an area of professional interest or expertise engagement in language and cultural exchange.
Initial appointment is up to 12 months with a possibility of renewal upon mutual agreement.
Applicants should have a recent Master’s degree in a related field (e.g. Translation Studies, Literary Studies Second Language Acquisition, or Applied Linguistics in Portuguese) from an accredited program. Applicants with experience in teaching Portuguese will have an advantage.
The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in mid-July 2021.
The taxable salary of the Teaching Fellow shall to be determined according to the successful applicant’s academic qualification and relevant professional experience and it is ranging from MOP21,709 to MOP30,390 (USD1 approx. = MOP8). The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% – 7% after various discretionary exemptions. Basic medical benefits are available at a low cost.
