Modern Western/Chinese Art History and Theory
The Centre for Arts and Design (CAD), currently housed in the Faculty of Social Sciences, collaborates with the Department of Communication to offer art, design, and creative media via the specialization of visual communication leading to Master’s and PhD degrees. CAD invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor in the discipline of Modern Western Art History and Theory, who will teach a variety of Master and PhD courses in Modern and Contemporary Western and Chinese Art and Design History and Theory, and contribute administrative duties to the Centre including curatorial work. Candidates must hold a PhD degree in Western (or Chinese) art history and theory or related fields. A track record of high-quality research and publication through internationally respected channels, such as AHCI journals, or demonstrated ability is prioritized. Candidates with experience in supervising MA and PhD students for their theses and dissertations, as well as curatorial and administrative experience is desirable. Excellent in English (speaking and academic writing) is a prerequisite and excellent in Chinese is also necessary.
The selected candidate is expected to assume duty as early as August 2021.
A taxable annual remuneration starting from MOP828,100 (approximately USD102,230) for the position of Assistant Professor will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% – 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
