The Residential Colleges invites applications for the position of Resident Fellow. Successful candidates are expected to assume their positions as soon as mutually practicable.

The Residential College System
The residential college system forms a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary community that integrates students’ learning and living. Living with the students in a residential college, academic staff will have close interactions with the students towards the realization of a multifaceted and holistic whole-person education. Currently there are 10 residential colleges on the campus aiming to accommodate around 5,000 undergraduate students. More details about the Residential Colleges are available at:

The Resident Fellow
The Resident Fellow will reside in a college and assist the Associate Master in the planning and delivery of residential college-related education programs in the college. They will facilitate academic tutorials, seminars and other meaningful experiential learning opportunities/activities for students on a regular basis and provide pastoral care to individual students. The initial appointment is up to two years and is subject to renewal.

In particular, the candidate should have the following credentials:

  1. Master’s or doctorate degree, preferably a PhD degree (PhD candidates in the final stages of their study are encouraged to apply);
  2. Some experience working and/or teaching full-time or part-time in a higher educational setting;
  3. Experience in a university residential life program is an advantage;
  4. Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin);
  5. Refined communicative and interpersonal skills;
  6. Able to live at the Residential College and carry out duties as assigned.

A taxable annual remuneration starting from MOP592,410 (approximately USD73,140) will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% – 7% after various discretionary exemptions. Apart from competitive remuneration, UM offers a wide range of benefits, such as medical insurance, provident fund and other subsidies. Residence in college is mandatory for Resident Fellow, and accommodation will be provided rent-free. Further details on our package are available at:
