The Residential Colleges invite applications for the position of Resident Fellow. The selected candidates are expected to assume duty as soon as mutually practicable.
The Residential College System
The residential college system forms a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary community that integrates students’ learning and living. Living with the students in a residential college, residential academic staff, including the Resident Fellow, will have close interactions with the students towards the realization of a multifaceted and holistic whole-person education. Currently there are 10 residential colleges on the campus aiming to accommodate around 5,000 undergraduate students. The Resident Fellow
The Resident Fellow will reside in a college and assist the Associate Master in the planning and delivery of UM’s residential college education, including teaching residential college credit-bearing courses, providing pastoral care and academic support to students, administering student discipline, as well as organizing academic tutorial programs and educational activities for students on a regular basis in the college. Resident Fellow will normally be affiliated with an academic home. Engagement in educational research and publication pertaining to residential college is encouraged. The initial appointment is up to two years and renewal is subject to a comprehensive review.
In particular, the candidate should have the following credentials:
- Doctoral degree or Master’s degree (the former being an advantage);
- Work experience in a higher educational setting is preferred (with experience in student affairs or university residential life program being an advantage);
- Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin);
- Refined communicative and interpersonal skills;
- Able to live in the Residential College and carry out duties as assigned;
- Holders of Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF), Mental Heath First Aid, and/or adventure-based counselling trainer qualification(s) is an advantage.
Remuneration
A taxable annual remuneration starting from MOP611,940 (approximately USD75,550) will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% – 7% after various discretionary exemptions. Apart from competitive remuneration, UM offers a wide range of benefits, such as medical insurance, provident fund and other subsidies.
