The State Key Laboratory of Internet of Things for Smart City (University of Macau) invites applications for the position of Research Assistant.

State Key Laboratory of Internet of Things for Smart City (University of Macau) – SKL-IOTSC

The State Key Laboratory of Internet of Things for Smart City (University of Macau) is expected to promote smart city development in prospective of IoT, Big Data Technology and Engineering in Macao and inject a fresh impetus to the development of the Greater Bay Area by enhancing research and training in the field and providing technical support plans for improving economic performance, people’s quality of life, and social management. The Research Assistant will develop and support distributed High Performance Computing environment and Cloud Computing environment for the Super Intelligent Computing Center (SICC), assist in design and development of algorithms and automated systems, development and maintenance of web applications, and support Laboratory projects and activities as assigned.

Initial appointment is up to 12 months with a possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and mutual agreement.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science or in relevant fields, possession of Master’s degree in Computer Science related area will be an advantage;
  2. Experience in the administration of Linux, database and cloud computing systems;
  3. Knowledge of machine learning and deep learning in Python and CUDA development toolkits and framework (including TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.) will be an advantage;
  4. Familiar with web programming (VueJS, ReactJS, Node.js, Ruby on Rails, HTML/CSS, etc.);
  5. Experience in working with large and complex datasets;
  6. Knowledge of version control, e.g. Git/SVN;
  7. Good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese);
  8. Willing to take challenges and able to work under pressure.

The selected candidate is expected to assume duty as soon as possible.

Remuneration

Remuneration offered will be competitive and commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% – 7% after various discretionary exemptions. Basic medical benefits are available at a low cost.
