The Institute of Applied Physics and Materials Engineering (IAPME) invites applications for the position of UM Macao Fellow equivalent to Lecturer in the academic staff system on a 3-year contract basis in applied physics and materials science in general, energy materials, photoelectronic materials, nano materials for biomedicine and optical meta-surface/structures are preferred.

IAPME is a research institute of the University and is well-equipped with advanced research facilities. It offers a platform for a well-balanced integration of fundamental and applied research, which serves as a bridge between pure science and engineering. The interdisciplinary nature of IAPME enables realization of the different research strengths of the University in the daily engineering solutions as well as in the coping of future technological challenges. Qualifications

1. Macao permanent resident;

2. Master’s degree holder or above, doctoral degree holder from a reputable university is strongly preferable.

Successful recruits may be requested to seek visiting appointments at a reputable research or academic institution outside Macao for enhancement on their qualifications and professional experience, as well as their opportunities for research and publications. Upon meeting a satisfactory level of performance assessment and having suitable qualification at the end of the initial 3-year contract, the appointees will be expected to apply for the position of Assistant Professor of UM via open recruitment.

The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in August 2020.

Remuneration

A taxable annual remuneration starting from MOP592,410 (approximately USD73,140) will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% – 7% after various discretionary exemptions. Apart from competitive remuneration, UM offers a wide range of benefits, such as medical insurance, provident fund, on campus accommodation/housing allowance and other subsidies.
