Research Staff

The Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) (http://fst.um.edu.mo/) is the oldest and one of the most vibrant faculties at UM, dedicated to student-centric education and cutting-edge research in engineering and science. UM is among the top 1% in Essential Sciences Indicators (ESI) rankings in both Engineering and Computer Science. In the THE World University Ranks, the Engineering and Technology programme is ranked among the 126th – 150th and the Computer Science programme is among the top 175, arising from its status of a local community college in less than 10 years. FST is currently seeking research personnel in the following areas of Science and Technology: Civil and Environmental Engineering, Computer and Information Science, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Ocean Science and Technology, Material Science, Mathematics and related disciplines.

Initial appointment is up to 12 months with a possibility of renewal upon mutual agreement.

Qualifications

• Visiting Fellows:
  A doctoral degree and professional rank at Associate Professor or above in related disciplines; a solid research record and expertise.
• Postdoctoral Fellows:
  A doctoral degree in related disciplines; a solid record of publication and scientific training.
• Research Assistants:
  A bachelor’s degree or above in related disciplines; a solid record of scientific training.

Remuneration

Remuneration and appointment rank offered will be competitive and commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% – 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
