Academic Positions in the Faculty of Health Sciences

In 2013, UM launched a new academic unit, the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) (https://fhs.um.edu.mo/), which aims at providing excellent education programmes, performing outstanding research and delivering dedicated services to the community. FHS emphasizes on the research in the areas of Aging, Animal behaviours, Bioinformatics, Cancer, Cell cycle, Development, Epigenetics, Genomics, Metabolic diseases, Pharmacology, Proteomics, Stem Cells, Systems Biology, Transgenics and/or Translational research. To cope with the latest development, FHS is particularly interested in recruiting personnel with extensive research experience in areas of translational medicine, precision medicine, and/or oncology.
Positions & Requirements
- Chair/Distinguished/Full Professors:
A doctoral degree in related biological, health and/or medical studies; a demonstrated qualification as an internationally recognized academic leader with an excellent record of distinguished research and scholarship; effective teaching capability in the high education; and communication competence.
- Associate Dean:
Candidates recruited at a rank of endowed professor or above in the Faculty of Health Sciences and with extensive administrative experience can be concurrently appointed as Associate Dean.
- Institute Director:
Candidates recruited at a rank of full professor or above in the Faculty of Health Sciences and with extensive administrative experience can be concurrently appointed as Director for the newly established Institute of Translational Medicine.
- Associate Professors:
A doctoral degree in related biological, health and/or medical studies; a demonstrated record of outstanding research and scholarship recognized internationally with strong commitment to excellent research and effective teaching.
- Assistant Professors:
A doctoral degree in related biological, health and/or medical studies; minimum three years of postdoctoral training that demonstrates high potential of excellence in research and teaching. Qualified candidates will be recommended to apply China’s “Youth Thousand Talents Plan”.
The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in August 2019 or January 2020 the latest.
A taxable annual remuneration starting from MOP800,800 (approximately USD98,735) will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% – 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
