The Faculty of Education invites applications for a one-year contract in the position of Visiting Assistant Professor/Visiting Senior Instructor in Teacher Professional Development.

Qualifications

We are seeking applicants for a Visiting Assistant Professor/Visiting Senior Instructor position in Teacher Professional Development. Candidates need to possess a doctoral degree in education, with a specialization in areas such as teacher education, teacher professional development, or a closely related field. A strong candidate will also have a track record of academic publications and/or presentations pertinent to teacher professional development, or teacher education. Furthermore, applicants should have demonstrated ability and experience in designing and delivering teacher professional development programmes and/or courses within higher education. We highly value candidates who bring strong professional experience from educational settings, whether K-12 or higher education, or from relevant industries.

For the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor, candidates should, in addition to the aforementioned qualifications, demonstrate a well-defined research agenda in teacher professional development or teacher education. They should also have experience in teaching university-level courses and show evidence of an ability to contribute to programme development and curriculum design.

Applicants for the Visiting Senior Instructor rank should, in addition to the general qualifications, possess significant practical experience in teacher training, mentorship, or leading professional development initiatives. A proven ability to effectively engage and support educators in their professional growth is key, and experience in developing and delivering engaging workshops or courses for educators is expected.

The successful candidate will contribute to our Doctor of Education Programme. Responsibilities may include teaching courses, supervising graduate student research or projects, and participating in programme development and enhancement activities.

The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in September/October 2025.

Remuneration

A taxable monthly remuneration starting from MOP51,935 (approximately USD6,410) for the position of Visiting Assistant Professor, MOP37,153 (approximately USD4,590) for the position of Visiting Senior Instructor will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% – 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
