The Faculty of Education invites applications for the position of Full/Associate/Assistant Professor in Chinese Education.
The Faculty of Education offers Bachelor, Master, and Ph.D. programmes in various areas of education. Details about the Faculty of Education are available at https://fed.um.edu.mo/. Qualifications
Applicants should have: (a) a doctoral degree in a related area with a research and teaching profile focused on Chinese Education; (b) a track record of high-quality research related to Chinese language/literacy education, Chinese literature education, or teacher education, as evidenced in publications in SSCI, SCI, A&HCI, or CSSCI indexed journals; (c) a demonstrated ability to teach in teacher education programmes and contribute to programme development and enhancement. Good knowledge of education systems of Macau and its neighbouring regions will be a plus.
Applicants for Full/Associate Professor should, in addition to the above, have a global reputation for excellence in research on Chinese Education as well as experience in leading Chinese teacher education programmes at the undergraduate and/or the postgraduate level. To be appointed at the rank of Full Professor or Associate Professor, applicants should also demonstrate quality teaching experiences at a world-renowned university, and an excellent national and international collaborative research profile in Chinese Education.
The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in/before August 2025.
Remuneration
A taxable annual remuneration starting from MOP1,250,200 (approximately USD154,350) for the position of Full Professor, MOP1,052,800 (approximately USD129,980) for the position of Associate Professor and MOP855,400 (approximately USD105,600) for the position of Assistant Professor will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% – 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
