Laboratory Technician for the Department of Arts and Design

Administrative Staff
The Faculty of Arts and Humanities (FAH) of the University of Macau invites applications for the position of Laboratory Technician (equivalent to Senior Administrative Assistant/Administrative Assistant) at a taxable monthly salary ranging from MOP25,380 to MOP43,240 (index 270 – 460).
Responsibilities
- Manage the operation of the Fabrication Laboratory (Fab Lab) and Art studios within the Department of Arts and Design (DAD), including maintaining space, equipment, facilities, tools, and inventory;
- Maintain accurate records of Fab Lab equipment and inventory (such as woodshop tools, CNC machines, 3D printers, and other resources for arts and design practice) for efficient resource utilization, and supervise the maintenance and procurement of Fab Lab equipment;
- Inspect and assess the workspace, equipment, and operational practices to ensure compliance with university safety standards and government regulations;
- Provide regular safety training for students and staff, deliver Arts and Design Making Workshop courses;
- Assist in the preparation of art classes, offer technical support, and handle any issues during and after classes;
- Perform administrative and secretarial duties for DAD, such as planning budget, handling various purchase requests and providing support and service to students and teaching staff;
- Coordinate and collaborate with other faculty members and university departments on projects, conferences and events;
- Perform other duties and ad-hoc tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Arts and Design or other related disciplines, holding Master’s or Doctoral degree is preferable;
- Minimum 2 years and 4 years of relevant working experience in Arts and Design field for the rank of Administrative Assistant and Senior Administrative Assistant respectively. Experience in model making or arts installation making is preferable;
- Recognized safety-related certifications or professional qualification is preferable;
- Proficient in the use of 3D modeling software and image software (Rhino/ SketchUp/ Keyshot/ Adobe software) and experience in exhibition planning and execution are advantages;
- Experience in research fund application and research project management, especially in experimental education projects, is preferable;
- Good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese);
- Highly motivated, good communication skills, a strong sense of responsibility, and the ability to work independently.
