Research Staff

The Department of Arts and Design of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities invites applications for the position of Research Assistant. Initial appointment is up to 12 months with a possibility of renewal upon mutual agreement and funding availability.

Duties

The selected candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:

  1. Assisting in the promotion and dissemination of research outputs, including academic projects, publications, exhibitions, talks, and other scholarly activities;
  2. Supporting publication-related work, such as editorial coordination, proofreading, content preparation, and liaison with publishers, designers, and printing vendors;
  3. Assisting in the preparation of research-related publicity materials, including reports, newsletters, brochures, websites, and social media content;
  4. Providing administrative and logistical support for research events, seminars, conferences, and outreach activities;
  5. Assisting with data collection, documentation, and basic research tasks as required;
  6. Performing other duties as assigned by the Faculty and Department.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree or above in Arts and Design or related disciplines. Possession of a Master’s or Doctoral degree is strongly preferred;
  2. At least two years of relevant working experience;
  3. Academic or professional backgrounds in communication studies, publishing, cultural or arts management, media studies, public relations, or related fields will be an advantage;
  4. Prior experience in research institutions, universities, publishing houses, cultural or arts organizations, or other relevant sectors will be an advantage;
  5. Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills;
  6. Excellent command of both English and Chinese (Putonghua and Cantonese).

The expected assume duty date is subject to the mutual agreement of the both parties.

Remuneration

Remuneration offered will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% – 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
