The Department of Arts and Design of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities invites applications for the position of Full/Associate/Assistant Professor in Urban/City Design Theory and Practice.

According to the current plan, a Faculty of Design will be established at the new campus, comprising a Department of Architecture and Urban Design. The department will offer related undergraduate and postgraduate degrees programmes.

Qualifications

1. Doctoral degree (or equivalent terminal degree) in Urban/City Design or related areas; 2. A track record in teaching and research in one or more of the following design areas: a. Urban Design; b. Smart City; c. Urban Regeneration; 3. Extensive experience as a practitioner and educator to lead future degree programmes; 4. A significant record of urban/city design projects, major awards, and grants is preferred; 5. Proficiency in industry-standard software and emerging tools; 6. Comprehensive experience in teaching and supervising both postgraduate and undergraduate students is an advantage; 7. Proficiency in English is required, and proficiency in Chinese is an advantage for senior positions.; 8. Possession of a related recognized license is preferred.

The selected candidate is expected to assume duty as early as November 2025.

Remuneration

A taxable annual remuneration starting from MOP1,250,200 (approximately USD154,350) for the position of Full Professor, MOP1,052,800 (approximately USD129,980) for the position of Associate Professor and MOP855,400 (approximately USD105,600) for the position of Assistant Professor will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% – 7% after various discretionary exemptions. Additionally, applicants should provide no more than six samples of academic writing/publications/essays/catalogues, and sample syllabi of classes previously taught.
