The Department of Arts and Design (DAD), housed in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, collaborates with the Department of Communication to offer an interdisciplinary specialization in art, design, and creative media in visual communication leading to Master’s and PhD degrees. Applications are invited for the position of Associate/Assistant Professor specializing in Visual Communication Design and Web Design. Qualifications

Applicant with a PhD or DFA in Visual Communication Design or related fields can apply for the position. Besides the technical skills required, the successful candidate should also be a well-rounded designer and educator demonstrating in-depth knowledge in contemporary design, criticism and theory, and has the ability to supervise MA and PhD students for their theses and dissertations. Candidates should have successful teaching experience at the university level with an active international/national exhibition and design commission record, or demonstrated potential to succeed. Successful candidate should also demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills. While applicants must be excellent in Chinese (speaking and academic writing), excellent in English is considered an asset for the appointment.

 

The selected candidate is expected to assume duty as early as December 2022.

 

Remuneration

A taxable annual remuneration starting from MOP1,019,200 (approx. USD125,830) for the position of Associate Professor and MOP828,100 (approximately USD102,230) for the position of Assistant Professor will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% – 7% after various discretionary exemptions. Please also submit links to download your design portfolio in the “Additional Information” section (stored in your own server such as Google Drive, Dropbox, Baidu, etc.), which should include no more than 20 images of personal creative design work (image should be jpg/pdf, 72dpi, approximately 2880×2880 pixels, image quality level 3; animated image should be 640 pixel mov or mp4 files to keep the file as small as possible) with image caption list if available.
