The Centre for Chinese History and Culture (CCHC) of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities invites applications for the position of Chair/Distinguished/Full Professor in the following two disciplines:

  • Chinese History
  • Chinese Culture

CCHC is affiliated with the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of UM. By integrating resources and expertise available from multiple departments across the campus, CCHC strives to strengthen teaching and research on Chinese history and culture, disseminate the knowledge of Chinese history and culture in Portuguese-speaking countries, bolster the influence of Chinese civilization, and improve the understanding of and identification with Chinese civilization among the residents of Macao. Qualifications

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Chinese history, Chinese culture, and/or related subjects. The ideal applicant will have corresponding university teaching experience, research output, academic leadership experience, and international scholarly influence appropriate to the specific rank and position; possess excellent communication and organizational skills; and be committed to the study of Chinese history and culture, as well as its promotion and development. Knowledge of spoken and written English will be an advantage. The applicant may focus variously on ideological, cultural, social or artistic research.

The selected candidate is expected to assume duty not later than January 2020.

Remuneration

A taxable annual remuneration starting from MOP1,170,400 (approximately USD144,490) and appointment rank offered will be competitive and commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification, current position and professional experience of the corresponding position. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5%-7% after various discretionary exemptions. Apart from competitive remuneration, UM offers a wide range of benefits, such as medical insurance, provident fund, on campus accommodation/housing allowance and other subsidies.
